I'm venturing into the second iteration of my mission, and it's taking the form of daily quips. Every morning when I wake up it's a sunny day, and that's the only way I'll have it. You see, I own my mood, and I choose to look at the bright side of things.

Folks, I have been bestowed with a great honor, to be the Celebrity Guest Dog for the PSPCA’s Bad Dog Ball next Saturday, October 15. It starts at 9PM at the Hyatt on the waterfront with four hours of open bar, late night snacks, raffle prizes, music provided by DEL, and lots of dancing – all to raise money for abused and abandoned animals in Philadelphia. Sounds like my kind of party.
On Saturday, Oct. 1, beginning at noon, Sherman will be leading the Pooch Parade at the Midtown Village Fall Festival beginning at 13th and Locust St, a 5-block “block” party that begins at noon and ends at 8PM. Shortly after noon, Sherman will be presenting his first proceeds check to PAWS for $2,510!
Be sure to stop by the GET FIXED booth after 12PM to about 1PM for a photo opportunity with Sherman and to get a paw-signed book!
On August 3rd, a very, very big thing happened: Philadelphia finally met its match. Me.

A BULLDOG ON A FOX! FOX29 THAT IS! September 7, 2011
Yesterday morning, my people woke me up from a lovely, rainy morning snooze to get me to the Fox 29 Philadelphia studios over on Market Street to talk about “GET FIXED” and my new campaign, “Be A Bulldog. Not A Bully”, just in time for the first day of school.
John Anderson and Sheinelle Jones were an absolute pleasure to speak with regarding my perspective on bullying and how to overcome it.
Did you also notice the dramatic demonstration of my athletic capabilities? There should be an Olympic event for Chair Leaping. Enticing cookies couldn’t be overlooked, and when I found an opportunity, I leaped down to quickly grab them. Julie G., my translator, was a little reluctant to allow such a feat, but what can I say? I just go for it. It’s one of my life mottos.

It was another great week for some great reading and awesome shows on TV! Did you catch that brillaint segment last Satuday night on 6ABC? Well if you missed, fear not ... you can watch it below. The best part starts at about 7 minutes 45 seconds into the show.
There was also a delicious piece in the Philadelphia Inquirer on Monday. My favorite line from Gloria Campisi's article should have been #26 in my book: "Maybe you should just buy [Get Fixed] and read it for yourself." Thanks Gloria! xox

After Sherman’s first article on July 20 in the Weekly Press [thanks Haywood Brewster!], Metro Philly followed up with a great review of his book on August 3. In their article titled “The Simple Life”, writer Monica Weymouth echoed Sherman’s sentiments perfectly, “‘Get Fixed’ is a playful reminder to be generous with affection and appreciative of head pats.” Indeed we all should!!! Thanks Monica!
That same day the Philadelphia City Paper published their review of Get Fixed, and Sherman couldn't have been more thrilled! "So if dogs are your thing, especially of the bulldog variety, you’re heart will melt for this one," noted Brian Wilensky. Thank you Brian!
Even though he was in deep beauty sleep the morning of his coming out party, Bubbles & Bones, Sherman got up super early for two TV appearances on August 3. First he met and chatted with anchorman Ukee Washington at 6:45am live on CBS3 and then with the lovely Erika von Tiehl at 7:45am on CW [pictured below]. Besides an afternoon meeting with his “people”, the rest of the day was spent napping. Then a quick bite and it was time to don his blinged collar again and climb aboard his limousine to make his way to the party.
At 7:45pm Sherman arrived at TRUST [249 Arch Street] where he was met by over 200 adoring fans, a red carpet, and his security entourage of none other than a handful of lovely ladies from Delilahs. Sherman spent the rest of the evening in a special roped off area posing for pictures snapped up by both PhillyChitChat.com [covered in Philly Mag's, The Philly Post] and 6ABC. Amongst all the VIPs in attendance was Dana Spain founder and president of PAWS, Sherman’s first charity partner.
After all the festivities had finally died down, Sherman released his next effort to spread his good word – Sherman’s Official Celebrity Philadelphia Posse Contest! Sherman knows that he simply cannot work alone in helping people and animals Get Fixed. He is looking for 5 partners-in-crime to join him on his journeys: The Comic, The Brain, The Sneak, The Flirt, and Fancy. Read more about the contest here.
Sherman looks forward to a restful weekend during which he will be very sadly missing one of his dearest friends that passed away on Tuesday August 2 -- sweet Bella.
SHERMAN'S TV DEBUT ON NBC'S 10! SHOW July 27, 2011
This past Monday, 7/25 Sherman made his TV debut accompanied by one of his media reps and translators Julie Gallagher. It was a day full of pride and excitement as Sherman's book GET FIXED was presented to the Philadelphia viewing audience. Sherman was thrilled to hear NBC's host Bill Henley declare, "It's a great book. What a lot of fun." Thanks Bill and the entire 10! Show Team for a great day!

founded by Dana Spain, has become the first benefactor of Sherman’s debut book, “GET FIXED.

I'M A BAD DOG! October 12, 2011
This weekend I will be at the Bad Dog Ball doing what I do best - being bad for a good cause. The PSPCA has graciously invited me as the celebrity guest dog. Last Saturday I put on my first fall festival outfit [a Phillies t-shirt] and headed out to the Midtown Fall Festival where I headed the Pooch Parade and gave out my first check of $2,510 to PAWS Philadelphia. I’ll admit, it felt good to donate 100% of the proceeds from my first 100 books to the lost dogs and cats of Philadelphia.

FINALLY COMING OUT August 3, 2011
I am not often humbled. Yet, when dear old friends and lovely new ones honored me with their presence and loving support of my new book and cause, I cannot help but to be humbled...even if it is accompanied with the very beautiful dancers from Delilah’s and the endless belly rubs they willingly donated. [Hugh Hefner, eat your heart out.]
The event was the to-be-seen-at occasion with beautifully clad women at every turn and a local band, appropriately named Sherman. Between cocktail sipping and cookie nibbling, guests raised more than $1,000 in additional funds for PAWS while also showing their support through book, t-shirt, and sticker purchases. A big thank you to the supporters of the evening, many of whom donated their time or products, for the evening’s event:
For this dog, GET FIXED is the National Bloody Anthem of Life, and it was about time to belt it out for all to hear. My first performance venue: the NBC10 studios in Philadelphia.
Upon arrival to the NBC10 green room, wearing of course none other than my blinged-out collar, fate made a quick intervention. Sitting upon his fab golden throne was Fate itself in the form of my lifelong idol, First Amendment advocate, and fellow Bad Boy Larry Flynt hustling his own book, “One Nation Under Sex.” I immediately knew that this was a book I could get under [or get on] and that Mr. Flynt was a man after my own heart. We discussed censorship and my most unfortunate Twitter episode and he even posed with the infamous, now censored, spread “Stand On Your Own Two Feet”.
Fate indeed does have sense of irony and perhaps even a bit of a dirty sense of humor. Hey, I’ll take what I can get -- or should I say I'll get what I can take!
MY HEAD IS GETTING TOO BIG FOR MY COLLAR. July 20, 2011
If you have finally had the pleasure of reading my new book, you know that I am no stranger to ego. In fact, she and I are very…very…dear friends. But, when the The 10! Show called me about my first appearance I dare say I almost blushed. When “Getting Fixed” was nothing more than a procedure that rid me of my baby-making abilities, I could only have imagined all of the other opportunities inking my book "GET FIXED" would bring to me.
And here we are!

SAND IN MY MARTINI July 13, 2011
I hate to say it. But, my first-ever entry about the going-ons about me, the Sherman, to promote my recent book, GET FIXED, is not from my home digs in Philadelphia as originally planned. Instead, this little hovel of an undisclosed location will have to do. The wind in my fur, a dirty martini in my paw, and the breathtaking views of ladies, ladies, and ladies! – I can’t complain much. Well, the martini could be a little dirtier.
As I’ve been barred from communicating to you good folks without the proper approvals and whatnot due to recent events of a certain victory dance, I’ll keep this first entry short and safe.
I’m back in Philly in a few weeks, just in time for my “Bubbles and Bones Hump Day Coming Out Party” on August 3rd. Listen, it’s invite only, but if you are one of the first 100 book buyers I’ll throw in pair of tickets. And, the martinis are on me.
